This was so much fun that I have been attempting to do a few more, and hope to have my own personal 'paint your own' collection to showcase someday. It's great fun, they're easy to paint, and fun to design.

The past couple of years have been rough on us. We've lost a few of our beloved horses. I created my "Spirit" with all of them in mind. He's got the N Star on his forehead to guide him. He accompanys their spirits to the otherside of the rainbow bridge, where they wait for me to someday see them agian.

I have completed three PYOP. I am not a artist and it took time for me to figure out how to get the best results. But once I got started it is so addicting. I did go out and buy my own paint. Mainly beucase I needed different colors but that was a mild investment.. The pony is well made. Just like the ones in my collection. I will be starting my 4th one next year 2010. I wish they would come out with the standing form as a PYOP. Keep up the good work Trail we love ya!

Hi! Love the Ponies but I think the colors could be not so common! how about a nice grass green!? Or a few shades of brown? And also, I think that there should be a more obvious place for the eye! It is hard to find! ( as in: I am still looking for it ). Otherwise, I love it!!!
I painted this pony for my gnome loving sister and I think it turned out really well
Images shared by: HarleyMy fiancee has received Painted Ponies as a gift from a friend for quite a while. She usually purchased them around holidays or special occasions. I wanted to do something different as a gift to him and surprise him by making my own for our wedding this year. We are getting married 11-11-09. I still have not decided if I am going to use the "11's" as the horses racing number. I used our wedding colors with paint. I also used ribbon and jewels for decorations. This project turned out to be easier than I thought.

My friend, Rob, has a Standardbred, Valiant Lega C "Larry", & is a retired harness racer who is now a top halter horse. Larry is a Standardbred that wins many awards in both Open halter classes and Standardbred classes. Larry was Grand Champion halter horse at the 2009 National Standardbred Show. My friend was his groom when he was a harness racer, and now owns & shows him. I designed this pony for Rob's birthday in honor of his champion.

The woman who commissioned me to paint her horse on one of these Paint Your Own Pony models was just tickled when I'd finished him. One side is how he looked when he was younger and the other side is how he looks now, a good many years later! (See picture)
This was my first attempt at a Painted Pony. At first I was afraid to break the model, but it is very well constructed and I found out that I can actually handle it pretty roughly - I could even prop it upside down with its ears, forehead supporting most of its weight while I painted the underside. However, I didn't use any of the paint included, only my own selection.
I had been wanting to get into painting custom horses for people and I've finally found a good, sturdy, well-made model to use. I would recommend the Paint Your Own Pony Figurines to anyone with an idea; they make really great gifts for artists too, by the way.

I really like this product. It allows me to express myself, in many patterns, colors, settings, and more. Whatever i do on this product, i know that i will have fun while doing so. I like how this product includes paints, with original colors. That way i can turn them into even more exciting colors. Even if my painted pony doesn't turn out the way i had imagined or hoped it would be...... I will still be proud of myself. And i know everyone who buys this product will be too. I think i speak for everybody when i say: " I really appreciate and admire everyone's hard work throughout the Painted Ponies Organization.

This was very fun and I reccommend it for any age. I didn't use the paints that came with it, though, so I used my own. I bought suede and leather to make a saddle and bridle, and used leather thread for the reins. I glued on beads and feathers and added war paint and glitter on the base. I named it Sparks Flying, sort of an Indian name.

I used this kit to paint the Filly Eight Belles that died in the Kentucky Derby in 2008. I painted her wearing her number and race gear. I thought the death of this filly was very sad so I decided to paint a pony in remembrance of her.

These ponies are a fantastic blank canvas waiting to be filled by the imagination. I got one for christmas and since I love the commercial ponies, I tried my hand at painting one. Im glad I did! I love peacocks and it was my inspiration for this pony!!!!

This is a way to express what I am feeling at the time. It is in memory of my nephew and his best friend who were killed in a car accident last year. They were 15 yrs old. They loved soccor and bright colours. One side is for him and the other side his friend. The pony will be displayed so everyone who sees it, will know it was made for both of them.

I would of never of considered painting a pony. Im not much of a artist. When we had a little contest on the Trail of the Pony chat board I decided what the heck. I had great fun thinking it up and then painting and embellishing it. I would recommend it to everybody.

I ordered these kits last year for my Junior High Art students. They absolutely loved painting and decorating the horses and, in my opinion, they did a fantastic job!!! Needless to say, I have ordered again....it will be our project next week.
Thank you for making these kits available for us.

I have to create another one because I had so many ideas it was hard to pick just one. For my first kit, I went with a "Pirates" theme. I have 4 Painted Ponies of my own, but to actually create one for myself was amazing. And the best thing is, with this kit, there are no mistakes! Because even the mistake end up looking like art!

This product is so unique and I'm so glad it was put out there...it was great fun to do as well!I could see it used in a variety of different way that make it suitable for anyone to use, such as a project with children ( you can use markers and crayons n them, in my experience, it has worked pretty well) or something you can do on a rainy day at home to just kick back and relax. What a great idea!

Purchased two. Finished the first one which I have used to learn on. Used my own paints due to limited paints in kit. Will most likely purchase more. Wish the Stud, was available in this kit.

I love this. I like to paint and so does my sisters so we bought 3 of these (one for the each of us) we are currently still painting them. We are going to wrap them and give them to my grandfather for Christmas. He collects the ponies and one from each of us would be a great addition to the collection.

This is the prefect item for the young artist in your life. As a parent you always are collecting art work of your child. This is a prefect way to capture your young artist's work. This figurine is beautiful and when your young artist or even teen-ager paints in their own creative way you will have a timeless master-piece for years to come. This will be a piece you will want to show off to freinds and family.
I have my child paint one for me to remember what is work was like, what his interest are and it encourages him in art work because I proudly display his work with my other painted ponies. This is a Christmas project for him. When completed he wraps it up and gives it to me for Christmas. He also will add things to his horse like feathers or items that go along with him theme for the year. My youngest does this for me and his older brother and sister enjoy helping him. I end up with a masterpiece made by my son and he gets to take pride in his work. It's helps encourage to be creative and to do other things besides playing video games.
Each piece created by a child becomes a priceless heirloom that can be passed down. Making your painted pony priceless.
