Navajo Black Beauty Figurine As well as for their famous rugs Navajo weavers are known for their beautiful pictorial basket weavings. Many illustrate themes and tell stories that preserve Navajo history. Barbara Duzan an Arizona artist who has distinguished herself internationally with her one of a kind beaded animals wanted to pay special tribute to this unique tribal tradition by beading a Pony that carried "Man Placing the Stars" a Navajo creation myth on one side of her Pony and "Suns Journey through the Sky" on the other. This new pony, purcased in a local shop, drew my eye immediately. We havea Sun Room decorated in Southwestern & Native American designs, and this Navajo themed gem is thoroughly delightful.I have a long Wish List of Painted Ponies, and always hope to dicover a new little "friend" available.

This pony is very unique. Love the bead work and texture! The only thing I wish is that this pony really needed the base to have detail. Maybe something like a small design that is the same on the pony.
