The Trail of Painted Ponies figurines are bringing the art and the collectible worlds together. Each figurine is inspired by an original Painted Pony and has been crafted with exquisite attention to detail. As such, each figurine has an authenticity that makes it a miniature work of art in its own right.
To date, only twelve Painted Ponies have been crafted in this larger 9" size. Each is limited to an edition of 5,000 and is cast in solid resin, which gives them an impressive weight and size. They are a wonderful addition to any Painted Ponies collection.
"My best designs come to me when I am quiet," says Colorado artist Ross Lampshire, perhaps best known as a rodeo photographer and potter. "An idea or image enters my mind almost as a whisper... and fast takes on a life of its own." Inspired by written accounts of Sitting Bull's dreams prior to battle, Ross had his own dream one night of Sitting Bull silhouetted against a full moon with clouds parting, as if in search of a vision. Working in a stylized manner, Ross has created a dramatic, powerful and flowing design that honors this famous Sioux Chief.
